| What is the right size pearl for me?
|
Pearls are measured across their diameter in millimeters. Normally, pearls from 3mm to 5mm are very small, pearls from 6mm to 7mm are decently sized, and pearls larger than 7mm will make quite an impression. A single millimeter difference in size is noticeable. Use the pearl sizing chart below for reference. Note that the sizes below are not drawn to actual scale; the picture is to provide you with the relative sizes of pearls.

If in the event you are unsatisfied with any item you have purchased with us, please send an e-mail to service@serranojewelry.com for return instructions and a return authorization code. This code alerts customer service to look for your package and allows us to quickly process your return or exchange. The authorization code we provide you with should be written on your original packing slip, along with any special instructions and a brief explanation for the return. Regular Orders: When returning merchandise, please be sure to send it in its original packaging pouch and box. For your protection, please request delivery confirmation and use mailer’s insurance for the jewelry’s full purchase price when sending the jewelry back to us. We will not process any returns until we receive the jewelry. We are not responsible for lost or stolen jewelry, or jewelry that is damaged in transit. Returns must arrive at Serrano Jewelry Co. within 30 days from the date we shipped it to you. Customers who return jewelry in its original condition within 30 days will receive a full refund or exchange. Once we receive your return, we will notify you via e-mail, and either credit your account or replace or exchange the merchandise as per your instructions. | What is the difference between natural and cultured pearls?
|
Genuine pearls only develop in two forms. The first form is the "natural" pearl or the Oriental pearl. The other form is the "cultured" pearl and which is the most common and most affordable. Cultured pearls are formed when a mother-of-pearl bead is introduced or nucleated into the oyster/mollusk or by using an irritant such as a piece of tissue. In the former process, the mollusk coats the mother-of-pearl bead with numerous layers of a secretion known as nacre, which will eventually form a resplendent pearl. The natural pearl forms from nature as an irritant, when a parasite finds its way through an oysters shell. On the other hand, the cultured pearl is formed by surgically implanting a piece of freshwater tissue into the oyster. Both means of pearl formation result in superior, lustrous pearls. Natural pearls are quite rare and beyond most consumers means. Because of this, the Cultured Pearl industry was formed.
